In The Beginning (The Assessment)
Today is day one in my 5 year plan to realize the life of my dreams. This was the thought that came to me when I was sitting at work, listening to an old railroader talk to me about his retirement. At 60-years-old he was in great shape for act 3 of his life. He had worked for the railroad since high school, had saved his pennies and now had a life filled with travel and adventure all planned out. I was, one, happy for him, and two jealous. My life has been a series of reactions to situations. I have a notion of where I want to go, but have never devoted the time and energy to putting down, not only the goal, but the actual steps needed to reach that goal, in writing, which is weird, since I'm great at meeting goals. This blog is about that journey, five years to the life I want and deserve. Maybe you're looking for your real life too. Feel free to come along.
